Tail of the Dragon, also known as Deal's Gap, is a world-famous scenic drive in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. It is a stretch of US Route 129 that features 318 curves in just 11 miles, making it a popular destination for motorcycle and sports car enthusiasts seeking a thrilling driving experience. The route runs through the mountains and offers stunning views, but drivers must pay close attention and be prepared for challenging and narrow roads. The Tail of the Dragon is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an adventurous drive in a breathtakingly beautiful setting.

There are better (and safer!) rides around, quite frankly, but this is often a bucket list item. If you do choose to ride it (or even drive it), we recommend going midweek when there's less traffic and congestion.

Tail of the Dragon is a road (US 129) in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains that is a favorite of sports car and motorcycle enthusiasts. The road has an 11 mile stretch that has over 318 curves. This road is not for those that get motion sickness and I do not recommend driving it at night.
