The Pitt Rivers Museum holds one of the world's finest collections of ethnographic and archaeological objects from across the globe. It was founded in 1884 when General Pitt Rivers, an influential figure in the development of archaeology and evolutionary anthropology, gave his collection to the University of Oxford.
Again, wow. You can spend hours here, opening drawers, finding witches in bottles and shrunken heads...!
Great way to spend a rainy afternoon or entertain children. A good little cafe inside or coffee just outside at Horsebox coffee.
PITT RIVERS MUSEUM - Oxford (20 miles) A brilliant museum housing over 600,000 objects from around the world, including a collection of ‘shrunken heads’ which children certainly find fascinating! There is a shop but no café onsite.
