Praça XV is surrounded by loads of historic buildings, including the old imperial palace. Among the many sidestreets are great bars and restaurants, and every Saturday there is a huge antiques fair.

Interesting, historic quarter of Old Rio Centro where the slave ships would disembark. Slavery was abolished here in 1888. Today you can take a passenger ferry to Niteroi from the marina area.
