Montreux is bekend om zijn ligging in de beschutting van een 2000 meter hoge bergtop, zijn milde klimaat, de tropische vegetatie aan de oeverpromenade en de beroemde festivals die hier gehouden worden: Het Montreux Jazz Festival jaarlijks in juli sinds 1967. Grote namen die op dit festival hebben opgetreden zijn onder anderen Nina Simone en Ella Fitzgerald. Sinds 1999 wordt ieder jaar een steeds meer bekende kerstmarkt georganiseerd. (24 november tot 24 december) Montreux is onmiskenbaar verbonden met Mountain Studio, een studio waar onder anderen The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple en Queen hebben opgenomen. De studioruimte bevond zich toen in een casino. Daar is tegenwoordig het museum Queen: The Studio Experience gevestigd.

About 30 minutes driving or 40 minutes with public transportation, you'll enjoy this beautiful city on the Riviera at any season of the year. In Summer, don't miss the Montreux Jazz Festival (!)

A beautiful & cosmopolitan city on the shores of Lake Geneva, park at Chateau Chillon, on the outskirts, & take a leisurely walk along the shoreline for lunch in the city centre. Spend some time shopping, before returning by tram & taking a tour of the chateau. In the summer there's the world famous Jazz Festival, & pre-Christmas take the family on the Santa Train thru the snow to his grotto up the mountain. During both periods there are lakeside markets to peruse.
