community built and run cinema and event venue due to open mid 2017. they're always glad of volunteers so if you get here before it opens and have a spare couple of hours and a willing pair of hands you will be made very welcome indeed :) NB: airbnb software keeps trying to be clever and correct the address to Stepney Bank, but it's not there any more (hence the building work) it's on WARWICK STREET - half way down opposite the little green space

The Star and Shadow is a volunteer-run cooperative cinema that shows all kinds of films, as well as hosting music nights and all kinds of other cultural events. Arty, friendly, fabulous.

Star & Shadow Cinema is more than a cinema. It is an alternative social, cultural, arts and community hub run by a collective of volunteers. The cinema hosts a huge and diverse array of screenings and events from DIY, independent and world cinema to club nights and language schools. It is a frinedly, welcoming space great for a cheese toastie or a pint and a dance later at night.
