The Little Mermaid is a statue depicting a mermaid. Based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, the small, unimposing statue is a Copenhagen icon and has been a major attraction since 1913. It has become a popular target for defacement by vandals and political activists.

It is small and very popular attraction amongs tourists. A definite must see bronze sculpture is based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales.

Most visitors go here - but The Little Mermaid is really boring herself. The real attraction here is the surrounding area, where you can get a sense of Denmarks past as a naval superpower. The harbour-area is really scenic, and you could take a stroll on Kastellet, or use the harbour-bus to get…
