The Leaf and Bean cafes are the friendliest, caring and most accessible cafes in Edinburgh run by the loveliest people anyone could ever hope to meet. The owners go out of their way to provide comfy caring community cafes serving amazing coffee selected with care and tasty wonderful food which they put their heart and soul into making. They genuinely care about their customers and the community and pride themselves on knowing many customers by name. It’s the little touches that make them stand out, the water for the passing dogs at the door, the free toys books and play space for the kids (a godsend to mums desperate for a coffee!)

Great local cafe if you fancy a sit-in breakfast (pancakes!) or a mid-afternoon treat. Watch out for mid-mornings, unless you like sharing your space with lots of babies... Open from 9am.

A lovely local deli with especially good pastries and brioche rolls. Very warm and friendly owners. Great coffee. There is also a cafe only branch on the Western side of the Meadows.
