This was started by Noah Davis, an artist and close friend of mine who passed away. A group of people got together to keep the place going. The skew of the museum is to show primarily African-American art. They have a deal with MOCA to curate well-known and lesser-known art from their collection. Definitely one of Los Angeles’ most important spaces. The Museum also serves as a great community center in Crenshaw. There isn’t a lot of access to art in the area, and a bunch of kids from the neighborhood work on site. They do film screenings and have a fantastic library and gift shop, so be sure to browse.

Great local art gallery if you want to branch out from the Culver Arts galleries.
Fantastic urban museum also serving as a very cool community center. Well worth the visit. Shows are beautifully curated.
