The sleek exterior of Kansas City’s Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by Gunnar Birkerts, only hints at the activity within its walls. The open, light-filled atrium provides a striking setting for art activities at the Museum, which are accessible to all, free of charge, year-round.
This is the perfect, intimate museum, not crowded that makes the experience so worthwhile. The art on display was interesting too.
Don't miss the Kemper if you are heading to the Nelson. Similar hours and takes about 30 minutes to see the whole place. Excellent award-winning lunch and dinner menu in the restaurant, Cafe Sebastienne.
This place sports an excellent restaurant I recommend for lunch. Very close to the Nelson Museum.

“The Original Joe's KC (Previously called Oklahoma Joe's.. but that story if for another day). Z-Man sandwich is a KC staple and must try. Get burnt end sandwich while you can (they run out everyday / first come first served). Lines can be long on the weekend. Non BBQ lovers can hit up Taco Republic / Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken next door. *****CLOSED ON SUNDAYS***** ”
