Ulva is a great day trip. And the Boathouse makes it even better - do check opening times and make sure the ferry is running.

What a place. Take the small ferryboat from Ulva Ferry (30 mins drive from Salen) costing around £5 return. This is an adventure in itself, as the island is car free and walking is king. Wildlife and landscape photographers dream. The food here is brilliant. Daytime only, simple food, done well, serving fresher than fresh seafood like scallops, crab, massive prawns and more. The soups are inventive and delicious as are the baguettes and paninis, and the baking is devine. Go, go, go, it's a must!

Amazing locally sourced fresh seafood. Take the short ferry over to this unique public owned island and sit out in the stunning landscape for amazing fresh food and explore the islands rich history on pathways to the hidden gems along the way.

A great place to enjoy a delicious local seafood lunch. Sadly only open in the summer months (opens in April) and you'll need to get the boat over to Ulva to enjoy the restaurant, but its well worth the effort.
