It's right beside the flat and a great place for a walk, jog or cycle.

The 19th century Union Canal is not a park in the typical sense, but like the Water of Leith it provides a strip of blue and green through Edinburgh from Lochrin Basin in Fountainbridge (just off Lothian Road) to Edinburgh's outskirts and beyond. A lovely walk into the city alongside a canal that was used in the old days for transporting goods from Glasgow to Edinburgh and back.

The canal towpath makes up part of the long distance walking route, the John Muir Way. Or you can head along the Union Canal towpath for a city to city walk.
