Ponta da Piedade is een groep rotsformaties langs de kust van de stad Lagos, in de Portugese regio van de Algarve. Bestaande uit geel-gouden klifachtige rotsen tot 20 meter hoog, ze zijn een van de meest beroemde toeristische trekpleisters van Portugal.

Prachtige rotsformatie in de zee. Te voet te bezoeken dmv een lange trap of te bekijken vanop zee als je een boottochtje boekt.

The headland south of Lagos is nothing short of stunning. The tortured limestone stacks and cliffs have a reddish tone and are honeycombed with natural arches and caves. You can take the steps down to the clear water, which is completely protected by the rocks and has an enchanting emerald colour. To experience it all you can gaze at the view from the headland, which stretches all the way to Cape St Vincent in the west and then head back to Lagos to board a motorboat for a voyage exploring the caves and creeks.

The distinctive coastal features were hammered out by powerful winter storms; this is the Cozinha rock being battered. Turquoise sea waters and golden cliffs make the Ponta da Piedade headland one of the most beautiful natural features of the Algarve Ponta da Piedade is a series of beautiful sandstone cliffs, that are considered as the finest natural feature of the western Algarve. This headland to the south of Lagos has been eroded over the millennia by powerful winter storms to form unique cliff formations, which include sea arches, grottos and smugglers caves. The Ponta da Piedade can be explored from the pathways that cross and climb the cliffs, but a much more enjoyable approach is to join one of the boat tours that depart from Lagos marina, or book a Kayak tour ... we loved doing this!

Just outside Lagos centre, this famous and stunning headland shows off a group of rock formations consisting of yellow-golden clifflike rocks standing up to 20 metres high. There’s a tourist train that runs from Lagos Marina to Ponta da Piedade. You can explore the coastline on foot with many coastal and cliff top walks starting from Lagos.
