Sheltered by a mountainous coastline and washed by the mighty north Atlantic ocean, Middle Cove Beach offers amazing natural beauty. Families and friends frequently gather at the beach for bonfires and to experience amazing ocean views. You never know what you will see at the beach, including a once in a lifetime visit from a walrus on one occasion. In season, enjoy keeping an eye out for icebergs and whales. For those inclined, the Silver Mine Head hiking path which extends from Torbay to Outer Cove has stunning views of the coastline overlooking Middle Cove Beach.

One of the best beaches is located in the town of Torbay. From whales to capelan this is the beach to come and see.

Middle Cove beach is a great place to sit and watch the waves come in. There is a walking trail to the left of the beach. Depending on the tides, the caplin (small fish) roll on to the beach the end of May or in June. When this happens, you are likely to see humpback whales. At night, you can have a fire on the beach but you have to bring your own wood.
