Make a booking for a kayak, jet ski or paddleboard at Seaforth Boat Rentals (the one on Quivira, mission bay) Paddle with seals and sea birds in reasonably calm water! They have larger boats too.

A half day fishing boat can be taken from here great local fishing on party boats, there are also operations that go for up to a few days the early fall is your best bet for long range fishing here large tuna are caught yearly, if you can just catch and release. It is rough to take more than one of these fish with you and they are becoming scarce so if you must take only what you need, and leave some for the kids to catch! Still amazing fishing is available from this port.

Interested in deepsea fishing? The nation's tuna fleet (Chicken Of The Sea, Bumblebee, et al) used to be headquartered in San Diego. There are a lot of big schools of tuna still out there and the charter boat captains know where to find them. This is a great 1/2 day, 3/4 day or full-day excursion. The boats usually depart very early in the morning. Advance reservations required. The deckhands will teach you everything you need to know and will even clean, gut and filet your catch for you right on deck for a reasonable fee.
