The Franciscan friary and church is a large complex belonging to the Order of the Friars Minor. It consists of a friary, a church, a library, and a pharmacy. The Cloister is like an island of tranquility within the busy old town; peaceful gardens and old stone columns as well as the cleaned up frescos. The Old Pharmacy, the oldest still functioning pharmacy in the world (and third oldest in recorded history)! You can see some relics here too, including remains from Saint Blaise, the patron saint of Dubrovnik.

just stunning! Visit the cloister belonging to the franciscan monastery and one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe that's still running to this day! The cloister is a must see and the museum inside is quite interesting.

The Franciscan monastery and church are the religious buildings of the city of Dubrovnik. The monastery had previously stood in the western approach to the city, but for safety reasons it was moved. Monastery and church within the city walls began to be built in 1317, and most works were completed in the 14th century. According to the Stradun, he is looking at the side of the church. The door to the church was overwhelmed by the gorgeous Gothic portal, which was preserved only in a catastrophic earthquake in 1667. The portal is a work of domestic stonemasons for the brothers Andrijić from 1498. The central stone is Pieta. The 120-column clause from 1360, bearing the characteristics of the late Romanesque (column capitals) and Gothic (outdated proportions of pillars and other elements) was raised by Mihoje Brajkov from Bara, and surrounds the oldest Dubrovnik garden that is constantly nurturing the relocation of monasteries within the city walls. As part of the monastery from 1317 until today, there is a pharmacy, the third by age in Europe. By 1901 it was located in a small klaustra north of the great, and today it is left from the entrance to the monastery. The monastery library was edited by the philosopher and theologian Vital Andrijašević. [1] In the fire after the Great Cherry in 1667, about 7500 volumes of books and manuscripts were lost in the monastery library. It has been rebuilt with a mass of monks and still holds more than 70,000 works of which about 20,000 copies of manuscripts, with a particularly valuable 206 incunabula. In the library there are extensive materials of great importance for the history of older Croatian literature. The library preserves the oldest Croatian bibliographic record in the form of a book with a list of the former material and one of the two preserved copies of the first edition of Marulić's Judite. The music section of the library keeps many works of old Croatian composers with more than 100 world-singles. In the museum collection there are pictures of old masters such as Dubrovnik's painter Lovar Dobričević, all autographs and manuscripts of Luke Sorkočević, original inventory of pharmacies and goldsmiths. Many famous dubrovers like Miha Pracata and Marojica Kaboge were buried in the monastery. During the Homeland War, the monastery had over fifty grenades. The church is often used as one of the scenes of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
