Melbourne now officially has every cuisine known to man - this central Asian cafe is open every day and is usually crowded. They make their own special noodles that are halfway between Udon and Spatzle in texture and simply fabulous. Lamb is a specialty, but there are plenty of beef and chicken options. Loads of chilli, kebabs galore - it's one of my favourites. Has an online menu and does takeaway orders over the phone.

i-ghur, u-ghur, we all go for Uyghur (pronounced we-ghur). Uyghur food for the uninitiated is a cross between chinese and middle eastern influences. most dishes revolve around lamb. the lamb skewers are on point (you can ask for this to be less spicy as the default is "balls of satan" spicy) and the hand made noodle creations are just flavour packed. if you love spicy flavoursome food, this is the place! to calm the buds, try the yoghurt lassi from the fridge.
