Chocolade liefhebbers opgelet. Villajoyosa is namelijk dé chocoladehoofdstad van Andalusië. Al sinds 1881 importeert de stad cacaoplanten uit Zuid Amerika en de chocoladecultuur is echt te voelen is in de stad. Zo zegt men dat je de verse cacao al kunt ruiken wanneer je de stad binnenrijd. Daarnaast zijn er in de stad drie grote chocoladefabrieken waaronder een van het grote merk Valor. Bij deze fabriek hoort een museum met een klein winkeltje en je kunt een gratis rondleiding nemen door de fabriek. Als je daar klaar mee bent kun je genieten van verse chocolade churros met een bekertje chocolademelk.

The Chocolate Valor Museum, created in 1998, was recognised by the Generalitat Valenciana in 2008 as the Valencian Chocolate Museum. At the time it was a small family factory, and there you can learn about the chocolate-making process and the whole history of Chocolates Valor from its birth to the present day, through the 5 generations of master chocolatiers who have run it. It also has one of the best collections of chocolate industry machinery from different periods, from the times when cocoa was ground on stone to the present day. Really an excuse to buy lots of chocolate at the end this is the local factory and museum tour for the Valor chocolate company!

Who doesn't like chocolate? And why not spend a day learning all about it? Mmmm Chocolate.. 45-minute tour, not really suitable for very young children.
