De reusachtige NDSM Scheepsbouwloods staat in 2020 al honderd jaar majestueus aan het IJ. De loods maakt deel uit van de voormalige scheepsbouwwerf en is ontegenzeggelijk een ‘landmark’ binnen dit monumentale industriële complex. De Stichting Kinetisch Noord (SKN) beheert de NDSMloods. De kunststad, een culturele broedplaats met ca. 80 ateliers, beslaat grofweg een derde van de immense oppervlakte. De andere delen in de loods worden verhuurd voor filmopnames, fotoshoots, dans-, muziek en theatervoorstellingen, exposities, veilingen, bedrijfs- en dancefeesten, markten, congressen en zo verder. Alle delen van de loods zijn bereikbaar met de auto en in de buurt is voldoende parkeergelegenheid.

In recent years, Amsterdam’s northern shoreline has undergone a massive cultural revival that has repurposed many of its industrial sites and shipping warehouses into clubs, restaurants and ateliers. NDSM-Werf was at the forefront of these rapid urban developments and contains several impressive cultural hotspots including Pllek Restaurant, Ijhallen market, and Noordlicht Café. A small passenger ferry regularly travels between the docklands and Centraal Station, allowing visitors to enjoy views across Amsterdam’s harbor before disembarking at NDSM.

Streetarts and warehouses with hidden art galleries, all at the water the IJ. Nice places to chill in tis area are Plekk and Noorderlicht, with in the weekends often live-music, dj's playing or playing movies outside
