Once you are there, be AWARE - if you want to have an elevated look over the southern most tip of the world, you have to climb about 100 steps. Not for the elderly! They may have to look from the lowest point. Make a day of it by going first to Hout Bay, Kalk Bay, then the Simonstown Penguins, then onto Cape Point.

African penguin colony lives here .... they are just toooooo cute.... those little birds in suits. Every day is a formal occasion. but seeing them in their natural habitat is heartwarming. The kids will LOVE - but its great for us grown ups too. In January the juvenile penguins are moulting on the beach and adults are feeding-up for the breeding season, which lasts from February to August. Penguins feed at sea for much of September and October so the number of birds on the beach is lower.
