Food Scene

This is a great little place to pick up those treats you may have forgotten like dips, cheese, fruit, vegetables and chutneys. It also has freshly made tasty salads, curries and frittatas. It is in an historical building -see notice board outside and offers tea, coffee and cake in a relaxed setting among plants and magazines to browse.

Home made gelato with flavours of the season. Eat there on one of the colourful chairs and chat with family and friends or go across the road to sit on the grass and enjoy the view over the ocean keeping an eye out for dolphins, kangaroos and maybe, if the season is right, a whale.

Parks & Nature

A fresh water lake stained brown with tea tree leaves and meant to be good for the skin. It provides a safe beach for young children but also a pretty setting for some kayaking, picnicking or a place to swim when the wind is blowing and waters are too rough at the beach.

This has 2 lovely walks one shorter than the other. If you wish to walk through a varied forest try the longer one. Wild flowers dot the path especially in Spring and Autumn, but remember just to look don't pick. There is a lovely part full of grass trees and another of the fascinating Old Man Banksia. This walk ends at a man made lake with crystal clear water. A bit tricky to enter and always cold. Please remember to take all your rubbish away and be respectful of other visitors. It is a lovely quiet place to enjoy the birds and a view over water. It is a National park and dogs should not be taken in but if you do, have it on a lead as baits have ben laid to control the foxes and there is no cure for 1080 that has been ingested.

I've clicked hiking trail but really its a board walk around the cliffs of Point Lookout. it would have to be one of the most stunning walks any where in the world. It has a wonderful feel no matter the weather and the view over the ocean is ever changing. Whales can be seen from this walk from June to September. You can sit on one of the many benches dotted along the way and enjoy the ocean views or perch on a rock at the headland spotting dolphins, turtles or manta ray. Once again please take rubbish away with you, bins at the beginning and end of walk only. The walk can take 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on how long you sit and enjoy.

Arts & Culture

This is a lawn cemetery dotted with majestic gum trees and has the graves of some early settlers and victims of disease from 19th centrary sea travel. It is a moving reminder of the perils of travel in those days. It is a cemetery currently in use so be respectful please.

Drinks & Nightlife

Stradbroke is not really a nightlife destination, unless you are planning on doing some wild life spotting. However, the hotel at Point Lookout has spectacular views over the water with lovely sunsets. At times the distant silhouette of the Glass House Mountains can be seen. There are out side pool tables for a friendly game with friends.
