Our Dining Favorites in “the Valley” Zupas $ (Provo, Orem, American Fork, Spanish Fork, etc) A local chain with amazing creative salads, fresh paninis and sandwiches, soups and desserts. Every meal comes with a large chocolate covered strawberry and slice of fresh bread. Tree Room @ Sundance Resort $$$ (801-225-4100) Beautiful rustic atmosphere, award winning chef, wild game dishes. Known for the pepper steak, and fresh berry dessert. Foundry Grill @ Sundance Resort $$$ (801-225-4100) Casual rustic atmosphere with good food and reasonable prices (for a resort). During warm weather, the outdoor dining is awesome. Tortilla soup is a local favorite. ***Asado Argentinian Grill 360 S State Street, Orem (801-492-5700). Tastes like a meal in Buenos Aires! ***Bombay House 463 N. University Ave, Provo $$ (801-373-6677) Simple décor, but the best Indian food I have had anywhere in my travels. Wonderful Indian owner and staff ***Kohinoor 75 State St, Orem, UT $. This Indian restaurant is closer to the cabin, we have never had to wait to get in, and the food is every bit as good as Bombay House. Joe Vera’s Mexican Restaurant 250 West Center Street, Provo $ (801-375-6714) Great Mexican food in a restaurant which has been in business for decades Happy Sumo 4801 N. University Ave, Provo (Riverwoods Center) ?? (801-225-9100) Stylish contemporary atmosphere and good sushi (although purists may want to “hold” the rich toppings on some of the specialty rolls). Tofu dishes for vegetarians. Try the Thai Peanut Chicken Stir Fry www.happysumoshushi.com ***Pizzeria 712 320 South State, Orem (in the ground floor of a huge condo bldg.) $$ (801-225-6712) Not your typical pizzeria. Small stylish restaurant with unique and delicious menu and clay oven pizza. Great wines. The owners came from the Sundance Tree Room kitchen. ***Communal 102 N University Ave, Provo $$$ (801-373-8000) Urban-loft style atmosphere, excellent food and family style table seating. Same owners as Pizzeria 712, but the menu and style is totally different. La Jolla Grove 4801 N. University Ave, Provo (Riverwoods Center) (801-224-5111) Wonderful chef, reasonably priced entrees, nice atmosphere, spirits, bakery filled with delicious goodies . Magleby’s Fresh University Ave, Provo (just south of Riverwoods) (801-374-6249) A local chain with freshly made dinners that can be eaten in or taken out. All you can eat breakfasts. If you like chocolate cake, you must try this one! www.maglebys.com Bajio (801-224-6668) Another local chain with Mexican food along the lines of Café Rio, but preferred by some (including me) to Café Rio. Green Chili Chicken Salad is a favorite Café Rio 139 N. State, Orem and 2250 N. University Parkway, Provo (801-882-5700 and 801-375-5133 Kneaders (Provo, Orem, American Fork, Spanish Fork, etc)??????? A local chain with amazing fresh bread and sandwiches, soups and desserts. Also known for “all you can eat French toast” with special signature syrup breakfasts Pizzeria Limone A local artisanal pizza chain Bam Bam’s Barbeque A local BBQ chain Our Dining Favorites in Heber, Midway, Park City, and beyond Woodland Biscuit Company 2734 E State Hwy 35, Hideout, UT 84036. This place is at least a 45 minute drive and has crazy hours but if you love biscuits it’s worth the drive Snake Creek Grill 650 West 100 South, Heber $$$ (435-654-2133) *call for directions. Open for dinner only, closed Mondays and Tuesdays Tarahumara Restaurant 380 E Main St, Midway, UT 84049. Local favorite Mexican Bangkok Thai on Main 605 Main Street, Park City (435-649-8424) There’s lots of great dining in Park City, but this is the place for Thai. Awesome atmosphere and great wine list St. Regis Park City J&G Grill 2300 Deer Valley Drive East, Park City (435-940-5700) The stunningly scenic ride up the mountain in the funicular is free! The food is fabulous and not ridiculously priced. If you are not really hungry, check out the wonderful bar with it’s incredible views. Blue Boar Inn 1235 Warm Springs Rd, Midway (435-654-1400) Beautiful property, Cozy, romantic atmosphere and wonderful chef. If you are in Midway/Heber area, a must do for lunch or dinner Chicks Café 154 S Main in Heber: This greasy spoon has been a locals “go to” for huge breakfasts for over 60 years. The scones (large slabs of fried bread—a Utah specialty) are famous Granny’s Drive Inn and “The Train” Main Street Heber $ Heber was written up in USA today as having the most ice cream places and both of these spots make great shakes (however Granny closes hers for the winter) Back 40 Ranch House and Grill 1223 US-40 in Heber. It’s so “Farm to Table” that you can look out the window and see the beef! And try the charred onion dip with fresh potato chips The Mercantile in Midway. 99 E Main St in Midway. “Hearth to Table”.. We love the Campfire Trout and be sure to order the pear tart dessert if it’s on the menu Favorite Bars The Owl Bar @ Sundance Resort $$$ (801-225-4100) The bartenders know what they are doing here (Martinis, beer, wine and specialty drinks) and the atmosphere and live music (on weekends) make this the best bar around. During ski season, there is also live music on Sundays from 3 to 6 PM. You can order appetizers or diner from the Grill menu. And it is SO CLOSE to the cabin, you can actually walk back…. Great buffalo burger TAKE OUT FOOD AND SPECIALTY FOODS Backerei Eis Bakery at Zermatt Resort 784 Resort Drive, Midway (near Homestead Drive) (435-657-0180) Great baked goods, breads and gelato. Call for hours ***Rockwells Creamery 42 N. University Ave, Provo You’ll recognize this place when you see the people lined up for gourmet home made ice cream. The Honey Comb is the specialty. Also the home of a specialty bakery ***Fillings and Emulsions 326 W Center St, Provo (801-607-1593) Winner of 2018 Utah Best Desserts and Bakery; Chef was American Culinary Federation Pastry Chef of Year, and has been a competitor and finalist of various Food Network shows. Kolache Krave 1926 Pleasant Grove Blvd, Pleasant Grove (801-980-0138) Kolaches seem to be a local favorite (you can get the on Center St in Provo, in Heber, and more, but this one is particularly popular) Swig (lots of locations around the SLC area). Colorful, kid-friendly counter-serve or drive though take out specializing in flavored sodas, smoothies, shaved ice & ice cream. FiiZ.(lots of locations around the SLC area). Same concept as SWIG—drive-thru or take out specializing in flavored sodas, smoothies, shaved ice & ice cream. Cravings (Alisha’s Cupcakes) and Cravings Bistro (93 S Main, Pleasant Grove). A pair of sisters opened these 2 stores--a bakery and sandwich shop. The bakery won Cupcake Wars. Nearest Grocery Store Harmons 870 E 800 North, Orem (801-225-1700) This is the closest store, and it also has wonderful baked breads and specially made deli items. Try the white chocolate pecan bread, and the bruschetta and garlic toast crisps Costco and Trader Joes are in Orem next to the University Mall complex Malls Riverwoods 4801 N University Avenue, Provo 84604. You’ll have an unforgettable fly fishing experience with Brian, guaranteed! Heber Creeper Vintage train that does a round trip between Midway and Vivian Park in Provo Canyon. Soldier Hollow: State park in Midway that was the site of the 2002 Olympic cross country skiing events. Great cross country skiing in the winter, and golfing in the summer Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. One of the worlds largest collection of mounted dinosaurs, a butterfly house, a wonderful “hands on” Museum of Curiosity with a ropes course across the ceiling…. Definitely a place to go for a change of pace if you feeling like taking a break from the slopes
