The Castle Restaurant is the "19th Hole" at Oughterard Golf Club. Located just outside the village on the Galway road. Chef Aidan has a delicious menu. It is very suitable venue for sitdown meals of large groups or parties. Welcomes visitors which are not golfers all the time so do not feel as if you will be outsiders encroaching

Connemara

There cannot be a great many more scenic drives out there in the world than back in Connemara. Mountains, lakes, forests, wildlife, beaches, the Atlantic Ocean, castles and other stunning old buildings. Oughterard to Maam Cross, Clifden to Letterfrack, Leenaune, Roundstone all places that both the journey and the arrival there will leave you with a beaming smile. If you like taking pictures this should give you hundreds of moments to make you "wow!"

Walks/Hikes

There are so many little walks along the country roads around the lake that I will never get to listing them all, but here are a couple of longer ones listed that will give you an amazing day out.
This trail which runs between lakeside and hillside is an absolute treat, if you get to enjoy the sunset at the Hill of Doon it is one of the nicest scenes you will see in the area. The route starts near Oughterard, runs through Glann past the front of Glann House to the Hill of Doon, then through Maam Valley and onto Leenaune, the route in its entirety continues all the way to near county Sligo some 200km in total. But the Oughterard to Maum leg is about 23km

The largest island on Lough Corrib, has ancient ruins of a church and the resting place of a nephew of St Patrick. Can be reached by boat, the walk around the island through the high trees along shorelines of the islands little bays is a fun day out, suitable for all kinds of groups, young and old. I remember as a child I particularly loved this island adventure.
