If you have your young family members, take a drive to the science museum in Johnson City. It's the best science museum in Texas. Johnson City is the former home of former President and Lady Bird Johnson.

This museum is really fantastic for kids. It's in Johnson City, but worth the drive. Perhaps on your way in or out depending on which direction you are coming from. I truly think it's great for all ages. Johnson City is also a really cute town and worth checking out.
