The castle together with the Wawel Cathedral are one of the most important monuments in Krakow. It's worth visiting their interiors, but if you don't have enough time to see the inside of the castle, I recommend you to see the castle's courtyard and the Wawel Cathedral.
All coronations were taking place at Wawel Castle even when they removed the capital from Cracow to Warsaw (it was in 1596).
