Newborough beach on Anglesey is one of our favourite beaches, with amazing views of the mountains and down to the Lleyn Peninsula. Walking to the right as you come on to the beach, you will find Ynys Llanddwyn, with a lighthouse, Fishermans cottages and ruins of the church of Santes Dwynwen, Wales' patron saint of lovers.

My favourite beach on Anglesey - woodland, monastery remains, geological interest, fantastic views, good quality sand ..... take a picnic

Llanddwyn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn) is located at the far end of the beach near Newborough Warren, this narrow finger of land is an ideal picnic site during fine weather, but also an exhilarating place when the winter winds blow. Its rolling dunes, large rock outcrops and mixture of historic buildings makes it an ideal place for an afternoon of exploration. Named after St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers. This really is a magical and beautiful spot, but do check the tides before you cross the sand to the island as it is possible to get cut off during high tides.

Probably the most well known Beach on the Island of Anglesey. This beautiful beach has a large car park with BBQ area, toilets, and often a mobile vendor selling hot drinks. It is surrounded by Newbrough Warren which has extensive bike trails and paths. We love a winter walk out across the beach to visit the Island of Llandwyn with it's pilot's cottages and lighthouse. Then we head in to walk back through the woods. It's worth noting that from the 1st May through to the end of September dogs are not allowed on a large section of the beach. There is a charge now for the Car Park of £5 per day.
