Ukunda is the town on the main road before you turn towards Diani Beach road. It has banks, super markets, traders, hardwares, everything you can possibly think of. Its quite busy and noisy and dirty and most of the lower income workers live in this area. There are some interesting stalls and markets selling local items.

Ukunda is the nearest local town,a 1km drive up Palm Avenue. At the junction you are now in Ukunda. Its a great little place to wander around, look at the local markets, and find lots of interesting things for good prices. Naivas supermarket is situated just right of the junction towards Mombasa,and is excellently stocked and staffed. Ideally go with someone local who you know who can show you around with their local knowledge.
