The Hector Pieterson memorial and museum were established in order to honour the role of the country's students in the struggle against apartheid. The two commemorative sites are just few blocks from where Hector Pieterson was shot on 16 June 1976.

Do this whilst you do a Soweto tour in a taxi (organised tour). Brilliant tour to see the history of South Africa and get to see where Madiba stayed etc.
