From sandy beach and wading, to paddling, picnicking, boating or hiking to “another” Long Point Overlook, or across one of the smaller dikes that create this reservoir, Summerville Lake is the place to go.
Summerville Lake beach is free for public use and has a small parking fee. The drive is scenic and be sure to stop by Fat Eddies for ice cream and snacks!
About 1.5 hours from Charleston, but it is worth the trip. Sometimes the water is so clear you can kayak above subsurface cliffs and see them drop off below you. I've seen visibility at 30' (though it is not always that clear). The water is very warm also and the lake is in the tops of the…
