Ancestoral home of the Armstrong family and the first home powered by hydro- electricity. Great walks in substantial greens. Beautiful driving route through grounds with lots of picnic spots

Victorian inventor, Lord Armstrong's home, crammed with many luxuries modern homes aspire to. Beautiful grounds/lakes to explore, making a natural playground for children.

Cragside is a delightful National Trust property - the first house in the county to be powered by hydro electricity. The gardens are a wonder in the spring and summer. Beware that the gardens are quite hilly.

A magnificent house set in extensive parkland with formal gardens. Owned by the Armstrong family, it was the first house in the world to be lit using hydroelectric power.
