Tips van locals
Not only does Left Foot Charley offer tastings of their locally made wines, but they make the best craft cider! Their famous “Cinnamon Girl” is too good to pass up!
Left Foot Charley is located in the former Northern Michigan Asylum in Traverse City, Michigan. The Village at Grand Traverse Commons- don't miss it.
If you like cider - stop here. If you like wine - stop here. I love it! Their outdoor space is perfect for people watching. If you are in the mood to be more active, grab a growler or a bottle to go and play some bocce ball!
Located at the former Northern Michigan Asylum (now The Village at Grand Traverse Commons) Left Foot Charley is the only urban tasting room in the area. Set up on the shady patio with a glass of wine (or two) and listen to some great live music, or take in the historical architecture of Building 50.
BEST winery in TC! Ok, we are a little biased since we grow Pinot Blanc grapes for them. But for real, great wine, cider and super special location in the former laundry facility at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons.

“Bonobo is one of our favorites because it offers much more than just wine -often sporting local musical artists and providing hot chocolate as a non-alcoholic option in the Winter.”

“Since it opened in 2004, Trattoria Stella has been a grande dame of the Traverse City dining scene. Beloved for their house made burrata, tender grilled octopus, and house charcuterie program, the restaurant is also home to one of the best Italian wine lists in Northern Michigan. Stella’s cavernous subterranean dining room is as romantic as it gets — but those who are still limiting themselves to open-air seating can order food and a bottle of wine to go, and nab one of the many outdoor tables that have been added to the greater Village at Grand Traverse Commons property.”

“This collection of food trucks in downtown Traverse City remains as popular as ever, with throngs of visitors and residents alike flocking to Little Fleet for the smoked potato tacos from Happy’s Taco Shop, the smash burgers from Glendale Ave., or the pulled pork sandwich from Cordwood BBQ. In the summer, most people sit outside, but don’t miss the drinks that are being shaken inside — some of the most well-crafted cocktails in town.”
