This is a gem of a hiking area at the end of Newhall Ave. just east of the 14 Fwy. You can hike along a stream bed thru the oak trees. Just be careful of rattlesnakes in the spring and summer. Take plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat if it's hot. You can picnic anywhere since it's an open area.
