Wonderful spot directly off the parkway! It's a great place to take in the scenery, have a picnic or swim/wade.

Despite the name, Skinny Dip Falls is one of the most family-friendly hikes and swimming areas in the area. This hike offers a series of beautiful cascading waterfalls on a crystal-clear river, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. This short, relatively easy trail is a good one for kids. Don't miss the Looking Glass Rock Overlook.

Skinny Dip Falls. Take Hwy 276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway and head south. Pull off near mile marker 417, which is near the Looking Glass Rock overlook. A moderate, short hike will take you to a natural waterfall and swimming hole on the Yellowstone Prong of the Big East Fork of the Pigeon River. Take a cool dip or sun yourself on the rocks. If you continue on the trail past Skinny Dip Falls on the Mountains to Sea trail you will reach Graveyard Fields where you will find more hiking trails and waterfalls.

Less than a mile one way not a bad hike if you want to drive on the Blue Ridge parkway for a while. If you're brave, you can jump in the water. But beware it's cold, about 50 degrees year-round!
