These dunes grown and shrink every year- magical walk on the way to Montauk. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself out that way. FYI can get really hot mid day in the summer.

For a peaceful nature walk, you get the ocean , massive “walking”sand dunes, and in the fall you can even pick cranberries for your Thanksgiving dinner .

Many people avoid areas like this due to ticks but the majority of the trail is sand where you don't have risk of ticks and the top of the Walking Dunes trail is a beautiful and picturesque view of the dunes and Napeague Bay. Wear socks or a natural tick repelling essential oil. Stay on the trail and out of the beach grass and you should not get ticks. But check yourself afterward anyway!!
