De geboortestad van Portugal met authentiek centrum, waar het heerlijk vertoeven is op één van de terrassen. Het kasteel aan de rand van het oude centrum is een grote trekpleister. Guimarães is een universiteitsstad, levendig, restaurants in overvloed.

Zeer gezellige, historische stad die zeker de moeite waard is om te bezoeken. Niet alleen het centrum is zeer de moeite waard om te bezoeken, maar ook het kasteel van Guimaraes! Ook leuk is de kabelbaan die je een prachtig uitzicht over de stad biedt. Trouwens... het park aan het beginpunt van de kabelbaan is ook erg leuk om eens te verkennen! Leuke cafeetjes onder/in grote rotspartijen bijvoorbeeld...

Guimarães is a nearby city in the district of Braga. Its historic town center is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, in recognition for being an "exceptionally well-preserved and authentic example of the evolution of a medieval settlement into a modern town" in Europe. Guimarães has a significant historical importance due to the role it played in the foundation of Portugal.
