Historic market and the surrounding area with a lot of restaurants and bars. It is always busy and becomes very crowded on weekend nights.

“The Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR), cultural heritage of the Puerto Rican people, opened its doors in 2000 with the mission of enriching the lives of its diverse audiences by making accessible to all, knowledge, appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts of Puerto Rico and the World. Since then, MAPR has received over 2 million visitors and has presented over one hundred exhibitions of local and international artists, multiple and varied workshops, courses, seminars, research and education programs, concerts, lectures and symposia that have impacted audiences of all ages and have positively marked the lives of students, teachers, families and community members. MAPR offers artistic and educational programs that enrich the lives of diverse audiences, both local and international, and also serves populations with particular needs for whom the Museum maintains a specially designed program. The Museum serves children, youth, adults and other members of our community through tailored experiences that allow them to learn about and enjoy the various manifestations of art. Each year, the Museum presents new projects that expand the scope of its mission and attract more and more visitors, while writing new chapters in the history of art in Puerto Rico. The Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico has a collection of more than 1,300 works of art in different media and formats, from artists of all generations. The MAPR is an affiliated institution of the Smithsonian Institution and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). ”
