Up for a walk...? 7/10ths of a mile out tobgg the end of the breakwater. Save this for a sunny day and bring along a drink and an extra jacket ! It gets cool out at the end.
A mile walk to the light house on this incredible stone bridge, built right on the ocean. Simply amazing! PS: Wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy the scenery!
If you are up for a stroll I recommend this one. Be prepared for some uneven terrain.
The breakwater was built to protect our harbor from Northeastern storm fronts. I really secures the bay for small craft sailing, etc. The lighthouse is maintained and attended by volunteers. It is a good hike to the lighthouse on the jetty; but, worth it. Boats are allowed to dock there too!
The Breakwater is in Rockland. The lighthouse is a mile out from the shore of Penobscot Bay, connected by a huge granite walkway – VERY special! It’s a beautiful walk, a nice place to relax and do a bit of people watching too. (Make sure to bring a sweater or windbreaker)
