Since summer 2015, the people of Gothenburg have a new favorite place to cool off on hot days. The pool is located in Frihamnen, on the Hisingen side of the river Göta Älv. It is 20 meters long, 8 meters wide and open to all who want to take a dip. The sauna is situated in the park Jubileumsparken which is part of the city’s quatercentenary in 2021. It was created by German architect collective Raumblabor Berlin and in large parts it’s constructed from recycled material. For instance, the changing rooms were made from 12 000 recycled bottles. In summer the sauna timeslots are drop-in, and the rest of the year you have to book in advance. You can choose between ladies, gentlemen and mixed. And it’s free! Just like the sauna and the sandy beach in the same place, the pool is part of Gothenburg's 400th anniversary in 2021 and has been built as a response to the citizens' desire to get closer to water. The water is cleaned entirely without chlorine and the pool is developed to be socially and ecologically sustainable.

Jubileumsparken (Jubilee park) is a favorite place. DO NOT miss the outside saltwater pool (Allmänna Badet) on a sunny day! There is also a nice sauna. Good food at Café Fluss. A really great summer hangout!

Citat från New York Times: After breakfast, hop on a bus headed [south] toward Frihamnen, an industrial harbor area that the city is transforming into an urban park called Jubileumsparken. The first stage of the project is scheduled to be completed in 2021 for Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary, but already the former shipyard is taking shape. In 2015, a public bastu (sauna) opened in a two-story, corrugated-metal structure overlooking a new public swimming pool floating in the harbor. Now there’s also a saltwater plunge pool, an outdoor roller derby rink, a lending library, an artwork-cum-playground, picnic facilities and free summertime sailing lessons in easy-to-manage dinghies.

This is an interesting spot that screams Gothenburg in its style. Even the name of the pool is Gothenburgish since its called "Pöl Harbour", after Pearl Harbour, and Pöl in swedish means puddle - due to the pool. Everything is made from recycled materials, and with this they have built a sauna, a infinity pool (peeerfect on a sunny day), a dressing room, a small beach and a playground. A must-see when you visit Gothenburg! During winter they have the sauna open along with a ice cold jacuzzi. And the best thing is - it's free!
