While Mike's might be the go-to for tourists, Modern has (in my opinion), the better cannoli. They hand fill them on order and even offer a GF version! Cash only! Open late but often a line. Between you and me -- locals prefer Modern over Mike's, but the best choice is really to try them both and let us know your favorite!
Mike's Pastry may be the tourist favorite, but I'll take Modern. Personal favorites are the white chocolate Florentine cookies. Great selection of pastries and espresso drinks.
This is where my sister learned to be a baker. The owner came over from Sicily with my father.... they have the best Canoli.... The art work on the boxes, rug and T-shirts is my sisters art!! Yes, she is multi talented.
Famous pastry shop - there is a great debate on who does it better, Modern or Mike's!

“For a wonderful Italian hoagie, walk around the block (left on Salem) and get a sandwich at Monica's. If it's a nice day, this is a perfect stop to get food and have a picnic on the greenway. Credit cards accepted. ”
