Across from the Fort Fisher Historic site is the recreation area. The unique trees make a great spot for a picnic and the rocks are always a fun place to explore. Just south of the rocks was one of the best surfing breaks in the area growing up, the Cove. The pointbreak-like wave is practically gone, but it is still a beautiful area to visit.

My favorite beach to visit, if you have a 4x4, able to drive onto the beach with annual pass.

Six miles of beaches, historic site across the street, N.C. Aquarium nearby, hiking trails, free parking, bathrooms, showers. One of the best nearby family beaches.

Take the Ferry, go to the beach. If you have a 4x4 you can almost drive to Bald Head Island!!!
