Six miles of beaches, historic site across the street, N.C. Aquarium nearby, hiking trails, free parking, bathrooms, showers. One of the best nearby family beaches.

Great place along the beach to find shark teeth! We love to grab a cup of coffee and come down here early in the morning. There's also a short hiking trail through the marsh.

For a fun day at the beach enjoy a ferry ride ($7 per car) from Southport to Ft Fisher on Kure Beach. If convenience is key for you, then you may prefer this state park beach with free parking, indoor toilets and changing areas, picnic tables, outdoor grills and lifeguards at the beach.
