This is not near the house, but an easy drive and features really great hot dogs (Chicago dog), hamburgers (the Skip burger is probably big enough for most adults) and a good cheesesteak. The reuben is also good.

I love pizza and this is my favorite place because it is near my house and the pizza is pretty good. Lots of locals. If you want fancier pizza consider Decatur's many options. Sapori di Napoli Pizzeria is great, but more expensive.

Another Avondale restaurant I live near. This is a family friendly pub type place that has great corndogs.

This shack has good BBQ, but you will want to get it to go and eat at the house because there's no indoor seating. They have some outside picnic tables. Crazy Ron keeps crazy hours, but is allegedly open Tues-Sat from 11 am to 7 pm. If you want the best BBQ in the area, check out Community BBQ in Decatur, about a 15-20 minute drive probably.

Parks & Nature
Stone Mountain has a lot to keep you busy. Walking from the house to the mountain, and up it, is a healthy challenge. You can also get to the top of the mountain via the sky buckets if you just want to see the view.

This is a large thrift store that donates much of its proceeds to pet charities. Very fun place to visit. The nearby Finders Keepers clothing store has just clothes but is more pricey.

The DeKalb Farmers Market is an institution, and has almost any fruit and vegetable you can think of. And it is cheaper than a regular grocery story. The meat and fish selection is huge ... but more pricey. If you need a Jerusalem artichoke or fresh grouper this place is amazing. It's cool just walking around and looking at odd stuff you can eat. There's also a cafeteria but it is kinda dingy, though I like the samosas.
