Right across the street, nothing special but good place if you want a coffee shop to work out of. For a cheaper and local alternative try Kopitiam next door.

Spize is a food institution in Singapore. The Roti John is a must here. Perfect place for a late night munch after a night out or just a late lunch if you are feeling peckish.

Drinks & Nightlife

If I can, I will take you there myself. This is my home away from home. If you can find George the crazy owner then you are in for a hell of a night. Even otherwise though the staff there are young but great. They are always experimenting so ask them if they have tried out anything new they would like to share with you. For the classics get the Guarana Caipirinha or their Gin Old Fashioned made from their shrub. The place is comfy and is one of the original speakeasies before they became a trend like everything else in Singapore.

And island that contains a huge natural reserve which is one of the few non-urban areas of Singapore. Pulau Ubin is probably the only places that looks just like it did back when Singapore got its independence in 1965. Great for bike riding, hiking or just getting to the mangroves better. The bike trail has easy as well as difficult terrains for experienced mountain bikers. You can rent bikes on the island easily. You can then finish your day off at the seafood restaurant before taking the ferry back to the mainland.

Arts & Culture

The arts museum is within the Kampong Glam area also known popularly as Arab Street. All around it are bars, cafes, & restaurants. For a great cocktail bar check out Ethan Leslie Leong's Maison Ikkoku. Back in the heydays of the finance industry he made the world's most expensive cocktail (35,000 dollars) but you can get them at a more reasonable 25 to 35 dollars a drink. For food check out Kampong Glam cafe for local fare and for hipster central walk down Bali Lane. Here you can get a haircut at Hounds of Baskervilles, listen to local and international live acts at Blu Jaz and chill out at several small bars and restaurants on the street amongst a constantly rotating scene fashion stores.
