Parks & Nature

You can walk for 10min and take the ferry from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. On the ferry and from the island, you can have the best view of Toronto skyline. From its south side, you can see an edge-less Lake Ontario. Update: due to high level of lake water, the island is closed now until further notice. However you can still take the water taxi or rent kayak/canoe to enjoy the city view from the water.

Located on the Toronto waterfront, Tommy Thompson Park is a unique urban wilderness minutes from downtown. The park is located on a man-made peninsula, known as the Leslie Street Spit, which extends five km into Lake Ontario and is over 500 hectares in size. The park represents some of the largest existing natural habitat on the Toronto waterfront. Wildflower meadows, cottonwood forests, coastal marshes, cobble beaches and sand dunes are just some of the habitats at Tommy Thompson Park. Wildlife, especially birds, flourish at the park, which provides one of the best nature watching areas in the GTA.

Arts & Culture

A modern and trendy district, a national historic site and walking District. One of the favourite destination for locals and tourists famous for its uniquely atmosphere transformed from a collection of Victorian Industrial buildings. A combination of local history, dining, sightseeing and some shopping. The best hour I would recommend is during sunset hours when everything becomes cozy and shaded in gold. Always busy.

Drinks & Nightlife

It is hard to define Queen West as it has it all. Heart of the entertainment district, with the best offering of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, ice cream shops and style/speciality stores. Good for dinging, clubbing, shopping, etc. Famous to local and always crowed.

Needless to say, landmark of the city. You can try out the EdgeWalk on top of it, the world's highest full circle hands-free walk if you know what I mean.

Where adjacent streets like Grand Trunk get their names from. Built on the former Railway Lands, it preserves the physical legacy, history and experience of rail transportation in Toronto and Ontario. The museum encompasses Roundhouse Park with Stall 17 as the temporary home of the railway simulator and other display. Taking the miniature train ride is always a good idea for your kids.

One of the newest and biggest aquarium in Canada, and it is just next door as you can see from the balcony. The best time to visit to me is during the late night before its closure around 11pm in most of the days. You will find yourself enjoy the aquarium without too many people around. It would take you on average one hour to have a decent walk inside the aquarium.

Getting Around

Hub station for TTC and railway. Access to subway, street car, VIA Railway and UP Express which connects downtown and the Pearson International Airport. This historical building is under revitalisation which would add more shopping area and make it more convenient for the traveller and tourists. 5 min walk away from my place, outside or through the Toronto's famous PATH underground walkway in a bad weather.

Home hub for Porter Airline, connecting to major cities in the northeast America. Complimentary shuttle to Union Station, and no more than 5 min taxi ride from/to my place. Also the hub for an aviation school and sightseeing planes/helicopters. The best part: taking a flight to Toronto and the plane lands from east to west, you can see the Toronto skyline so close and breathtaking from the window on the right hand side.
