•Torre de Belém (Belem tower) - located in the riverside, it was strategically built to protect the kingdom’s capital in the 16th century and had a very important role in the era of Portuguese Discoveries. On Sunday mornings there is no entrance fee; •Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Jerónimos Monastery) - built as a commemoration of the safe return of Vasco da Gama from his journey to India; •Padrão dos Descobrimentos - located exactly at the old harbor where most Portuguese discoveries voyages started. Historically this was the gateway to the city, where goods from the colonies were traded; •Ribeira das Naus.
