Trsat Castle represents a strategically embossed gazebo on a hill 138 meters above sea level that dominates Rijeka. Trsat Castle is one of the oldest fortifications on the Croatian Coast, where the characteristics of the early medieval town construction have been preserved. Today Trsat Castle, beside the Bazilisk souvenir shop and the Gradina coffee bar, is enriched with new facilities – gallery space where art exhibitions are held as well as open-air summer concerts and theatre performances as well as fashion shows and Literary evenings.

The tradition of the continuous theatre life in the city of Rijeka is more than two centuries long. The first theatre building was completed in 1765, however, as it also served other purposes, the construction of a new theatre was initialized at the end of the 18th century. The new theatre was finished and opened for the public by a distinguished citizen and merchant Andrija Ljudevit Adamić in 1805.
