Food Scene
Excellent Mexican food and prior to your meal they provide free corn and flour tortillas, chips, habanero salsa, atomic salsa, red salsa, Verde salsa, relish (pickled spicy carrots/onions/jalapenos), queso white cheese sauce, fried onions and jalapenos and sometimes depending on who is working they will even make you some flour chips. THIS IS ALL FREE. After the meal, they even provide free sopapillas and if you ask for the small ones they will bring you a bunch of little ones in place of the one regular size sopapillas.

9401 Lake Hefner PkwyThis is a great place to meet after work and unwind with Happy Hour and watch the sunset over the lake. One of my favorite places in the summer. The food is reasonably priced and they have something for everyone from burgers, wraps, pizzas, nachos, and salads.
Here's another restaurant on the lake with stunning views. If Mexican food and a beautiful sunset are on your agenda this might just be your stop. However, they do not provide all of the free pre-meal goodies that I have listed with Ted's Escondido.

The Ranch is known for Great steaks, good times and one of only a few places to smoke in the bar. at least you could last time I was there and they also sell cigars there. This is not far from the house. They are a little pricey though.

Drinks & Nightlife
Redrock is located on the point of Lake Hefner so it has some great sunset views and they celebrate sunset every day with a bell ringing so everyone can admire the beauty with the OK skies. OK has some of the most beautiful sunsets in the country with all the color in our sky on a regular basis. Redrock has live band music Thur - Sat in the Summer. The food is reasonable but the drinks are moderately priced. On cool nights they have a fire pit on the patio for staying warm.

Rock and Brews is a pretty cool place if you like 80's ish music. They have a huge wall TV/screen playing videos. They also have a small upstairs balcony area for dining/drinking. They have really good bar food full sandwiches, hamburgers, and appetizers. Juniors is located in the underground parking garage through the main door then the 1st door on the right. It's very secluded and you would think that there is no one there or they are closed looking at it from the street. It has live music on the weekends and is more of a smoking lounge - they sell cigars there also - with a piano and vocals - the music is not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation with your party and they have good drink prices and serve food as well. I enjoy this place from time to time to get away from the typical bar scene.

This is an out of the way from OKC but VERY close to the house protected wildlife nature center. I bet most of OKC doesn't even know that this place exists but I have spent decades visiting this center to get outdoors and just get away from everything. There are raised steel bridges, lookout towers, miles of walking trails, creeks and ponds full of fish and turtles (take some dog food or something with you to feed them throughout your day), gazebos, and a learning center and it's all FREE. Take a sack lunch with you and spend as much or as little time as you want. Check day and time before going, they close early to give everyone inside time to get out.
