If you are looking for a meal with a special ambience, and unique atmosphere,Ali barbers cave restaurant is a spectacular venue, set in an old coral cave, and open to the stars above. The current management do an excellent job, and I have heard great reviews. It is a bit on the expensive side, but well worth the experience.

Drinks & Nightlife
in the area of Kokkos cafe and Bistro,there is a central hub around the Chandarana complex, where there are several bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, in a well lit area. Check out the sushi restaurant next door to Kokkos,the new Tapas bar opposite, and Havanas,a chain from Nairobi,that does excellent pizzas, food and cocktails with a nice outdoor seating area.

Kokkos Cafe And Bistro
in the area of Kokkos cafe and Bistro,there is a central hub around the Chandarana complex, where there are several bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, in a well lit area. Sightseeing
The Kongo mosque is situated close to Haiku house. Turn left on the Diani beach road and follow the road down as far as you can(approx.1km). Follow the dirt road and you will arrive at the Kongo mosque on the right. From here you can view the river where it meets the ocean, and look around the mosque at close proximity, which is extremely ancient. If you do look around there is a caretaker who may ask you for a small payment, which is acceptable, especially if you use their parking. You can park near the hotel, and see the mosque from the beach also.

Kongo Mosque

Parks & Nature
Diana beach road is now well lit and new pedestrian paths have been created, so walking on the beach road is now possible, and there are lots of curio shops to explore and support the local traders. For visits to Kisite Marine Park I would recommend PiliPipa dhow safaris who do an excellent day tour, on a traditional dhow,with diving,snorkelling,and lunch. Shimba hills National park is a lovely day out, and there is an excellent place to stay overbite called the Shimba hills Lodge,with wonderful walkways through the forest.

Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park

You will be given a black overall to wear during your tour,as the forest is considered sacred and has several burial mounds, so out of respect you must be covered. This is an interesting half day trip, to view the ancient forest, and learn about its history.
Arts & Culture
Ukunda is the nearest local town,a 1km drive up Palm Avenue. At the junction you are now in Ukunda. Its a great little place to wander around, look at the local markets, and find lots of interesting things for good prices. Naivas supermarket is situated just right of the junction towards Mombasa,and is excellently stocked and staffed. Ideally go with someone local who you know who can show you around with their local knowledge.

There is also Shree supermarket next to Didi's restaurant. For fresh fish we have a fisherman who will bring your requirements direct to the house for you to choose. It is advisable to order fresh fish a day in advance.
