Essentials / Supermarkets
The closest supermarket is Migros, located in the new buidling in front of the loft.
Another option, located in the further corner of Breitenrainplaz, is the Coop.
Both supermarkets open MO-FRI from 7:30 am- 8 pm and SAT 7:30 am- 5 pm. Take note that all the stores (but the ones at the Train Station) are closed on Sundays.
You find good quality vegetables and fruits, meats, bread, dairy products and basically everything you will need to prepare meals at home. In both supermarkets you'll find coffee capsules compatible with the Nespresso machine.
Coop may have a wider selection of swiss and international brands, but both have first quality products as well as a basic line (Budget in Migro, and Prix fix in Coop)
The main difference is that for alcoholic beverages the Coop is the only alternative, as Migros doesn't sell any. In Coop you find beers and a good selection of wines.

We learned the craft of hospitality in various restaurants in Bern, Zurich and London. We imported the name from the British Isles, along with our fondness for sticky toffee pudding and good beer. «Darling» seemed appropriate for our favorite place. And we do everything we can to ensure that the place conquers your heart and your stomach!
Our suppliers are just as important to us as our guests. They are our partners, our friends - and our neighbors. We source the meat from the organic butcher shop La Boulotte on Breitenrainplatz. The vegetables from the Riem organic farm and the wine mostly from the Trallala wine shop.
We are in close contact with them. They tell us what grows in their fields, what cuts of meat they have in stock - and we use this to create our menu. That takes a little courage, enjoyment of the fresh, regional products, a good dose of creativity from the kitchen team and a lot of flexibility. At lunchtime we often don't know what's on the menu for the evening. And yet it is the only way for us to stay true to our values. After all, food is our greatest “darling”. And one cares for loved ones.
When it comes to wines, we like to keep things simple. They are all fine. Organic too. We serve what goes with the menu. Everyone gets a taste for it.

Parks & Nature
A wonderful green oasis within walking distance to the apartment. In the cold season you can enjoy the tropical climate in the greenhouses, in summer in the cozy cafe Fleuri where coffee and cake and other fine things are served.
A visit to Bern’s Botanical Garden is worthwhile for all plant lovers and those who want to become one and is also a great destination for families, romantically inclined couples and wanderlust-stricken souls.
Six greenhouses are open to the public and are home to plants from different climate zones, divided into regions and plant species. In addition to the Mediterranean and steppe regions, orchids, palm trees, ferns and succulents each have their own building. In the steamy Palm House, you can experience a vibrant rain forest with all your senses. With a little luck, a practiced eye will be able to spot beautifully colored butterflies or ripening pineapples.
