Our favorite place for breakfast by far! The pecan waffles ("The Yolk and Waffle") are so yummy that we rarely order anything else! Make sure to get their early because it's a small place and fills up fast!

Parks & Nature
The closest park to our house, the recently renovated Allison Park has a playground (with multiple play structures), outdoor fitness equipment, picnic tables, and a little splash fountain at street level. It also acts as a trailhead and has a lovely wooded trail that crosses multiple times over a stream. One of the trail branches that starts here will take you through a tunnel that goes under Sutton Road and towards Baxter Town Center.

It is about 2.5 mile hike from our house to the Catawba River. You can also drive there, of course. A popular local activity is tubing from here down to Riverwalk. You can either Uber back, have a company (such as Twisted Beaver Outfitters) coordinate the trip, or leave a car at Riverwalk ahead of time.

Mr. Putty's is a relatively new addition to our area. They have putt-putt golf (of course), a ropes course with a zip-line, bungee bouncing and more.

You could easily spend an entire weekend at Carowinds alone! Of course there's tons of fun thrill rides for teens and adults, but we have been very pleased with their recently expanded children's section! They have an AMAZING playground that our toddler daughter loves and lots of rides aimed at younger kids. The water park (which is inside the park... not separate) has multiple sections aimed at different age groups. They even have several splash areas that are great for babies!

Of course there's tons of fun thrill rides for teens and adults, but we have been very pleased with their recently expanded children's section! They have an AMAZING playground that our toddler daughter loves and lots of rides aimed at younger kids. The location of the 1996 Olympic canoeing and kayaking. It has whitewater rafting, canoeing, and kayaking in the world's largest man-made circular river. But there is also recreation grounds with rappelling, rock climbing, mountain biking, ropes course, canopy tours & more. They often host events, concerts, and festivals and even have several unique restaurants there. If someone in your party cannot participate in the activities, it is actually fun to just sit in the riverside seating and watch people going down the rapids... who are sometime launched off their raft!

They often host events, concerts, and festivals and even have several unique restaurants there. If someone in your party cannot participate in the activities, it is actually fun to just sit in the riverside seating and watch people going down the rapids... who are sometime launched off their raft!

Less than 20 minutes away (if not during rush hour), this outlet mall is one of my favorite places to find a bargain! Make sure to stop by the Info Center (in the middle) before shopping because you can get coupon books!
