Preserved home of poet Hedd Wyn(Elis Humphrey Evans) who died in service in France during World War 1. Sadly he died without knowing that he had won the National Eisteddfod Chair that year at Penbedw. The chair was draped in black cloth and returned to his home in Trawsfynydd becoming a symbol for the wasteful loss of a young generation. For years family members welcomed visitors who wished to see the chair carved by a Belgian war refugee. Now cared for by Eryri National Park, there is a visitor centre and cafe on site with regular cultural events. Statue of Hedd Wyn depicted as a shepherd in the centre of Trawsfynydd village.
