This walk includes a 380 metre-long elevated boardwalk built out over the lake around a headland known locally as ‘Redbluff’.

he Fernleigh Track is one of the region's most popular shared pathways, running along an old railway corridor from Belmont to Adamstown. The track takes a gradual journey from suburbia through beautiful bush and wetland areas with wildlife often present.
The connecting point between the cities of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle is marked with a 180 metre-long former railway tunnel. Many other heritage railway relics are spread along the length of the track, with old sleepers, signage and former stations working to create unique resting points along the way.

Catherine Hill Bay is a popular surfing and coastal destination located only 90 mins from Sydney, just off the M1 freeway, and only 30 minutes to Newcastle.

Its outstanding beauty is celebrated in the book “101 Best Australian Beaches” and played a starring role in Mel Gibson’s first feature film, Summer City.
Whilst mining ceased in 2002, surfers, swimmers, anglers and bushwalkers and those who simply want to breathe in the sea air and soak up the atmosphere now favour the beautiful beachfront village.
